More on writer's workshops and critique groups

I believe what is happening to me, due in part to my frustration with the publishing industry, in my case, small presses, is that I am thinking of moving on beyond them and becoming more of my own critic. I think some writers reach that stage and know it when they do. There is a book by Carol Bly called BEYOND THE WRITERS' WORKSHOP, where she explores the kinds of questions I'm having about the value of such groups at a certain point in a writers life.

Dinner in Oslo

This little chapbook of poems is now ready for access on this website. It concerns a life long, personal examination of religious beliefs, and the philosophical and moral implications of World War II, or any war, the Holocaust, icon for brutality and genocide in the 20th century, and the moral questions raised. The book deals with the lives of four adult children of Nazis who lived in Norway. Please contact me for a copy of the book at swrickett@kcnet.com. The cost is $6. Add $1 for postage.

Writers' Groups and Critiquing

Workshops are fine for beginning writers, writers with writers block, and writers who have no one to share work with except a dog or cat. I'm not so sure they are for everyone all of the time.
